  • The perfluororinated chemicals (PFCs) were determined in 40 surface water samples anf 36 sediment samples which were collected in two large urban lakes of Hanoi that are West lake and Yen So lake in rainy and dry seasons. Concentrations of total analysed PFCs was averaged of 10.78ng/L (8.13 – 13.25 ng/L) in water of West lake and 14.55 ng/L (12.42 – 17.64 ng/L) in water of Yen So lake, respectively. The average amount of PFCs in sediment of West lake was 0.11 ng/g dry sample (0.03-0.26 ng/g dry sediment) and PFCs of Yen So lake was 0.79 ng/g dry sample (0.08-2.01 ng/g dry sediment).   • In this study, the development of purpose-made capillary electrophoresis (CE) devices with capacitively coupled contactless conductivity detection (C4D) as a simple and inexpensive measurement tool and its applications for water monitoring, food control and pharmaceutical analyses in Vietnam are reviewed. The combination of CE and C4D, both relying on the control of the movements of ions in an electrical field, can be realizable even with a modest financial budget and limited experimental skills and expertise.   • Measurements of gaseous SO2, NH3, and O3 using IVL passive sampler technology were obtained during a pilot measurement program initiated as a key component of the newly established WMO/GAW Urban Research Meteorology and Environment (GURME) project. Monthly measurements were obtained at 50 stations in Asia, Africa, South America, and Europe. The median SO2 concentrations vary from a high of 13 ppb at Linan, China, to <0.03 ppb at four stations. At 30 of 50 regional stations, the observed median concentrations are <1 ppb. Median ammonia concentrations range from 20 ppb at Dhangadi, India, to <1 ppb at nine stations.   • Hai mươi mẫu bụi đường được thu thập tại thành phố Hạ Long và Cẩm Phả, tỉnh Quảng Ninh để phân tích hàm lượng PAHs. Tổng hàm lượng 16 PAHs (theo danh mục của EPA, Mỹ) tìm thấy trong các mẫu bụi đường tại Hạ Long có giá trị trung bình 399 ng/g (trong khoảng 232 - 593 ng/g) và tại Cẩm Phả là 780 ng/g (297 - 1624 ng/g). Phân bố thành phần các PAHs trong bụi của hai thành phố khá tương đồng, chiếm thành phần chính là các hợp chất Phe (21% ± 13%) > Pyr (12% ± 6%)> Nap~Fluth (11% ± 6%) >BbF (10% ± 8%).   • Seven sulfonamides, trimethoprim, five macrolides, lincomycin and three tetracyclines were measured in 150 water samples of sewage, livestock and aquaculture wastewater, and river and coastal waters, in five tropical Asian countries. The sum of the concentrations of the target antibiotics in sewage and heavily sewage-impacted waters were at sub- to low-ppb levels. The most abundant antibiotic was sulfamethoxazole (SMX), followed by lincomycin and sulfathiazole.
