  • Microsphere biolasers have attracted a great deal of interest due to their potential in biosensing and cell-tracking. Various fabrication techniques have been explored for making microsphere biolasers, such as freeze-drying in a vacuum, standard oil in water dispersion procedure and protein dehydration in a solvent. The protein dehydration is highly interesting due to its simplicity and fast processing time. In this work, we demonstrate the fabrication of microsphere biolasers using protein dehydration in decanol and demonstrate that the fabrication process can speed up if the solvent is heated. When the solvent is heated to 60 °C, the fabrication time is reduced to half ...

The unsupported membrane has a low thermal conductivity, is electrically insulated, and very robust against mechanical impact. Remarkably thin, it is difficult to fabricate and manipulate. Recently equipped with a dual chamber system for plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) and reactive ion etching, we calibrate it to deposit silicon nitride Si3N4, silicon dioxide SiO2, and to dry etch these materials. Based on the superb quality of Si3N4, we perform a through-wafer etch that creates suspended Si3N4 membranes. The recipe is reliable and rep...

  • So far, there have been several studies on nanocomposites for CIP treatment. Nevertheless, these nanocomposites either use UV irradiation or lack of the ability to be recovered by magnetic forces (Chen et al., 2019; Costa et al., 2021; Malakootian et al., 2019; Tamaddon et al., 2020). Hence, the present research aims at filling the above research gaps by developing a lab-scale advanced photocatalytic system for effective CIP degradation from aqueous solutions, which is characterized by (1) simultaneous formation of both effective reactive oxygen species (HO• and O2 - •), (2) reduction in recombination rate of photogenerated holes (h+ ) and electrons (e- ) during AOP, (3) effective per...

  • In the present study, we report on the synthesis of ZnO nanoparticles using Tilia Tomentosa (Ihlamur) leaves extract followed by calcination at 400 C for 15 min. The prepared ZnO nanoparticles were characterized by XRD and SEM to study the phase and microstructure, respectively. The XRD analysis showed the absence of impurity peaks and the SEM image confirmed the spherical nature of the prepared ZnO nanoparticles with an average particle size of 80 nm. UV-Visible spectroscopy was used to study the optical properties, and the bandgap was calculated to be 3.55 eV. This large bandgap is attributed to the property of the semiconductor, which can be explored for solar cell applications. ...

  • String based MEMS devices recently attract world technology development thanks to their advantages over cantilever ones. Approaching to this direction, the paper reports on the micro-fabrication and characterization of free-standing doubly clamped piezoelectric beams based on heterostructures of Pd/ FeNi/Pd/PZT/LSMO/STO/Si. The displacement of strings is investigated in both static and dynamic mode. The static response exhibits a bending displacement as large as 1.2 am, whereas the dynamic response shows a strong resonance with a high quality factor of around 35 depending on the resonant mode at atmospheric pressure. These findings are comparable with those observed in large dim...

The morphology of the sample was studied by Scanning Electron Microscope, and transmittance properties were studies by UV-Vis-NIR, and simulated by Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) method. The result showed that MIM nanocups have surface plasmon resonance (SPR) and localize surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) phenomena, that depend on size of Polystyrene (PS) and thickness of metal and insulator layers. • Landslide is one of the severe natural disasters that cause great losses in lives and property. Therefore, efforts in research, warning, and prevention of landslides have been made at different scales. One of the conditions that triggered landslides is the sudden rise of the rainfall. This paper focuses on building a low-cost rain gauge, which consists of an electrode sensor and a microcontroller board. Alert threshold is determined based on statistical methods in several years to give a timely warning. The system has been successfully built and tested in real experiment.

  • The acellular adipose matrix (AAM) represents a promising source of biomaterial for applications in soft tissue regeneration. In this study, we aimed to prepare an injectable AAM to serve as a ready-to-use allograft. A fabrication procedure including harvesting, delipidating, and decellularizing was established. Accordingly, we proposed a mechanical disruption during delipidation and a final homogenization to produce the AAM powder in an injectable form. Our results demonstrated that mechanical disruption would enhance the efficiency of fat removal from the tissue and would significantly shorten the delipidation duration. A decellularization strategy composed of Tris–HCl and Sodium Do...

These methods have remarkable advantages and are the optimal choice for developing superhydrophobic materials without consuming energy or requiring high technical equipment. The set of optimal conditions has been found. Reaction temperature of the first layer of TiO2 is 120oC for 3 hours consecutively with solution pH in the range of 4  5, this process needs to be repeated at least three times before coating the second layer with FTDS in immersed temperature is 60oC for 3 hours. TiO2-FDTS@cotton fabric achieved superhydrophobic state with WCA = 152.9o  1 o and ...

  • Tissue engineering is emerging as a modern medicine fascination towards the establishment of human tissue banks; yet, these approaches typically involve cultures of only one type of cell and, therefore, do not recapitulate the native tissue physiology in toto. Co-culture models, comprised of different cell types, can potentially create the next level of complexity. However, conventional approaches involving multiple cell types and cell culture inserts do have limitations. To this end, here we demonstrate a novel cell culture insert that allows the use of any custom-made scaffold, free-flow of fluids/gases, dual cell seeding on either sides of the insert, easy stacking of multiple inse...

  • This article presents optical property, crystal structure, and photovoltaic performance of perovskite solar cell (PSC) in n-i-p structure using simple single-step solution method with antisolvent drip. The fabricated PSC exhibited a relatively high photovoltaic performance with the best power conversion efficiency of 15.8% under forward bias scan. The relatively high photovoltaic performance was probably resulted from the high crystallization, the high absorption coefficient, and the crack-like void-free on the surface of the perovskite absorbers.

The TEM and SEM images of the Li-CuFe2O4thinfilm show a polyhedron shape of nanoparticles with uneven sizes, resulting in a significant change in its gas sensing characteristics such as sensitivity and sensor response. An optical analysis shows that the Li-CuFe2O4thinfilm has a semiconducting nature, and the band gap of the thinfilm is determined to be 1.15 eV. The gas sensor analysis demonstrates repeatability of the sensing behavior of the Li-CuFe2O4 thin film and this ensures a reliable and efficient gas sensor at room temperature.
