Authors: Nguyen, Phuong Mai; Đinh, Văn Toàn; Luu, Thi Minh Ngoc; Yongshik, Choo (2020) - This study explains entrepreneurship in the context of a comparative
analysis of Vietnam and South Korea. For that purpose, it develops an analytical
framework based upon both theory of planned behaviour (TPB) and sociological
approach to demonstrate whether or how much macro-environmental factors, such
as entrepreneurship education, family support and social support, and the three TPB
antecedents, including attitude, subjective norms and perceived behaviour control,
affect entrepreneurial intention. Primary data were collected from a selfadministered survey with 600 students in Vietnam and 550 students in South Korea
using the convenience sampling method. Structural equation m...

Authors: Đinh, Văn Toàn; Nguyễn, Phương Mai; Nguyễn, Trúc Lê; Hoàng, Thị Cẩm Thương (2020) - Entrepreneurship, as an engine for economic growth, has drawn much attention in these recent decades worldwide. Numerous studies have examined factors affecting entrepreneurial attitudes and intention in a variety of geographical contexts. However, a few studies use Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory as a theoretical background to explain the motivations for entrepreneurship. Therefore, this paper fills in the gap in the existing literature of motivations and entrepreneurship. A research model was adapted from related work to test the influence of deficiency-need motivations and growth-need motivation on the entrepreneurial intention of Vietnamese young people. Based on the data from ...

Authors: Ali, Mumtaz; Luu, Quoc Dat; Le, Hoang Son; Smarandache, Florentin (2018) - Neutrosophic set is a powerful general formal
framework which generalizes the concepts of classic set,
fuzzy set, interval-valued fuzzy set, intuitionistic fuzzy set,
etc. Recent studies have developed systems with complex
fuzzy sets, for better designing and modeling real-life
applications. The single-valued complex neutrosophic set,
which is an extended form of the single-valued complex
fuzzy set and of the single-valued complex intuitionistic
fuzzy set, presents difficulties to defining a crisp neutrosophic membership degree as in the single-valued neutrosophic set. Therefore, in this paper we propose a new
notion, called interval complex neutrosophic set (ICNS),
and exam...

Authors: Yu, Vincent F.; Luu, Huu Van; Luu, Quoc Dat; Ha, Thi Xuan Chi; Chou, Shuo-Yan; Truong, Thi Thuy Duong (2017) - Ranking fuzzy numbers is an important component in the decision-making process with the last few
decades having seen a large number of ranking methods.
Ezzati et al. (Expert Syst Appl 39:690–695, 2012) proposed
a revised approach for ranking symmetric fuzzy numbers
based on the magnitude concepts to overcome the shortcoming of Abbasbandy and Hajjari’s method. Despite its
merits, some shortcomings associated with Ezzati et al.’s
approach include: (1) it cannot consistently rank the fuzzy
numbers and their images; (2) it cannot effectively rank
symmetric fuzzy numbers; and (3) it cannot rank nonnormal fuzzy numbers. This paper thus proposes a revised
method to rank generalized ...

Authors: Vu, Truong-Minh (2017) - Leadership theory in IR still lacks a coherent approach, and it is analytically
useful to use eclectic lenses by combining all factors related to power and
the usage of power to gain leadership status. I define the term “international
leadership” as a process in which a state mobilizes its resources to influence
a group of other states (followership) in order to achieve a common goal. In
the empirical investigation, I will focus on China’s abilities to lead in Southeast
Asia. Despite the fact that there are many advantages for China, the mechanism
of transforming power resources into regional leadership is still questionable.

Authors: Ngo, Vi Dung; Janssen, Frank (2017) - The business environment of emerging and transition economies (EE&TE)
is highly volatile and unpredictable, mainly because they lack strong formal
market-supporting institutions, especially in their early phase of transition
(McMillan, 1995; Peng, 2003). In this context, certain authors argue that
a firm’s strategy can be better explained and predicted by the institutionbased view, followed by the industry-based view and the resource-based
view (Hoskisson et al., 2000; Peng et al., 2008; Wright et al., 2005). Despite
the fact that institutional conditions vary not only between countries but
also within a country and between industries (Gao et al., 2010; Wright et
al., 2005), p...

Authors: Vuong, Tan Tu; Hassanin, Alexandre; Gorfol, Tamas; Arai, Satoru; Fukui, Dai; Hoang, Trung Thanh; Nguyen, Truong Son; Furey, Neil M.; Csorba, Gabor (2017) - The taxonomic status of Rhinolophus macrotis sensu lato (s.l.) in Vietnam and adjacent territories remains problematic. To address this issue, we performed an integrated study of morphological, acoustic, and genetic characters of R. macrotis s.l.
specimens and compared these with sympatric species within the philippinensis
group (R. marshalli, R. paradoxolophus, and R. rex). Our results reveal that in addition
to a cryptic species of R. macrotis previously found in Jiangxi and Jingmen, China,
R. macrotis s.l. in continental Asia includes three further species, namely R. cf. siamensis, R. cf. macrotis, and R. cf. macrotis “Phia Oac.” These four taxa are distinguished from genuine R...

Authors: Phan, Minh Giang; Truong, Thi To Chinh; Tong, Son Phan; Matsunami, Katsuyoshi; Otsuka, Hideaki (2010) - Recently the Betulaceae family was divided into two families: Betulaceae with Betula and Alnus genera and Corylaceae
with Corylus and Carpinus. Alnus is a genus of flowering plants which comprises about 30 species of deciduous trees and
shrubs, few reaching large size, mainly distributed throughout the northern hemisphere (Daniere et al., 1991). There are two
Betulaceae plant species recorded in the Flora of Vietnam Alnus nepalensis D. Don and Betula alnoides Buch. -Ham. (Pham,
1993). A. nepalensis D. Don (Betulaceae) (Vietnamese name: Tống quán sủi) is a woody plant that reaches up to 10–15 m in
height. In the Chinese traditional medicine A. nepalensis is used to treat diarrhoea...

Authors: Pham, Quang Minh (2011) - International relations are social actions, and their expression is behavior of the
states. According to French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu, the basis for any social
action is habitus and capital (Bourdieu 1982). For Bourdieu, social action is not
created in a vacuum but always takes place under certain social conditions.
Different social conditions create different spheres that Bourdieu called action
fields. The problem is that each field has its own rules, logic and goals.
Bourdieu also uses the metaphor of game to explain the concept of field. Like
the fields each game has also its own rules and logic. In order to participate
in the game players are required to have some kn...

Authors: Nguyen, Thang Ngoc; Truong, Quang; Buyens, D (2011) - This paper provides a comparative analysis on the role of training and its impact on firm performance in some economies in transition in Asia. The starting point is an examination of country contexts and training, and how these have shaped organizational approaches to human resource (HR) training. The paper also reviews the results of recent studies that have investigated the relationship between training and firm performance in Vietnam and China. The review results show that training is positively related to firm performance and reveals some convergence of HR training in both countries. On the basis of this, some caveats on HR training development in the future in these two countries...

Authors: Le, Hoang Son; Nguyen, Dang Tien (2017) - Data are getting larger, and most of them are necessary for our businesses. Rapid explosion of data brings us a number of challenges relating to its complexity and how the most important knowledge can be captured in reasonable time. Fuzzy C-means (FCM)—one of the most efficient
clustering algorithms which have been widely used in pattern recognition, data compression, image segmentation, computer vision and many other fields—also faces the problem of
processing large datasets. In this paper, we propose some novel hybrid clustering algorithms based on incremental clustering and initial selection to tune up FCM for the Big Data problem. The first algorithm determines meshes of rectang...

Authors: Pham, Thai-Hoang; Le-Hong, Phuong (2017) - Short Message Service (SMS) spam is a serious problem in Vietnam because of the availability of very cheap prepaid SMS packages. There are some systems to detect and filter spam messages for English, most of which use machine learning techniques to analyze the content of messages and classify them. For Vietnamese, there is some research on spam email filtering but none focused on SMS. In this work, we propose the first system for filtering Vietnamese spam SMS. We first propose an appropriate preprocessing method since existing tools for Vietnamese preprocessing cannot give good accuracy on our dataset. We then experiment with vector representations and classifiers to find the best mod...

Authors: Huynh, Khon C.; Nguyen, Thi-Hiep; Pham, Dinh Chuong; Nguyen, Huong T.T.; Vo, Toi Van; Gyenes, Marianna; Stoldt, Volker R. (2017) - Platelet integrin αIIbβ3 possesses a Leu/Pro polymorphism at residue 33 (Leu33/HPA-1a or Pro33/HPA-1b). The Pro33 isoform has been suggested to exhibit prothrombotic features. αIIbβ3-expressing CHO (Chinese hamster ovary) cells on immobilized fibrinogen show activation of the MAP kinase family member ERK2, with an enhanced ERK2 activity in Pro33 cells compared to Leu33 cells. In our present work, we examined how the Leu/Pro polymorphism modulates the ERK2 activation stimulated by 2 differently triggered outside-in signalings. We either treated the CHO cells with Mn2+ or allowed them to adhere to fibrinogen. Moreover, we studied which signaling cascades are involved in ERK2 activation....

Authors: Racheboeuf, Patrick R.; Janvier, Philippe; Ta, Hoa Phuong; Vannier, Jean; Shang-Qi, Wang (2005) - Additional vertebrates and ostracods from the bituminous shale of the Khao Loc Formation at Tong Vai, Ha Giang Province, northern Vietnam, corroborate its correlation with the upper part of the Xishancun (Xiaxishancun) Formation and the lower part of the Xitun and Lianhuashan formations of South China, and its Middle to Late Lochkovian age. The variations in morphology and ornamentation of the galeaspid Polybranchiaspis liaojaoshanensis from Tong Vai are discussed and regarded as possibly size and growth-related. A new acanthothoracid placoderm with a very deep dorsal process is described from Tong Vai and the specific distinction between the antiarchs Minicrania lissa from Tong Vai a...

Authors: Dinh, Hoang Trung; Mamun, Abdullah Al; Dinh, Hieu T. (2005) - The utilization of pseudo-random proportional rule to balance between the exploitation and exploration of the search process was shown in Ant Colony System (ACS) algorithm. In ACS, this rule is governed by a parameter so-called exploiting parameter which is always set to a constant value. Besides, all ACO-based algorithm either omit this rule or applying it with a fixed value of the exploiting parameter during the runtime of algorithms. In this paper, this rule is adopted with a simple dynamical updating technique for the value of that parameter. Moreover, experimental analysis of incorporating a technique of dynamical updating for the value of this parameter into some state-of-the-ar...

Authors: Lepvrier, C.; Maluski, H.; Vu, Van Tich; Leyreloup, A.; Phan, Truong Thi; Nguyen, Van Vuong (2004) - New structural field data at various scale and 40Ar–39Ar geochronological results, from the basement rocks in the Truong Son belt and Kontum Massif of Vietnam, confirm that ductile deformation and high-temperature metamorphism were caused by the Early Triassic event of the Indosinian Orogeny in the range of 250–240 Ma. A compilation of isotopic data obtained in other countries along the Sibumasu–Indochina boundary broadly indicates same interval of ages. This tectonothermal event is interpreted as the result of a synchronous oblique collision of Indochina with both Sibumasu and South China, inducing dextral and sinistral shearing along E–W to NW–SE and N–S fault zones, respectively. Authors: Nong, Thi Hoa; Bui, The Duy (2012) - Unsupervised neural networks are known for their ability to cluster inputs into categories based on the similarity among inputs. Fuzzy Adaptive Resonance Theory (Fuzzy ART) is a kind of unsupervised neural networks that learns training data until satisfying a given need. In the learning process, weights of categories are changed to adapt to noisy inputs. In other words, learning process decides the quality of clustering. Thus, updating weights of categories is an important step of learning process. We propose a new effective learning rule for Fuzzy ART to improve clustering. Our learning rule modifies weights of categories based on the ratio of the input to the weight of chosen catego...

Monthly measurements were obtained at 50 stations in Asia, Africa, South America, and Europe. The median SO2 concentrations vary from a high of 13 ppb at Linan, China, to <0.03 ppb at four stations. At 30 of 50 regional stations, the observed median concentrations are <1 ppb. Median ammonia concentrations range from 20 ppb at Dhangadi, India, to <1 ppb at nine stations. At 27 of regional stations, the ambient ammonia levels exceed 1 ppb. Th...

Authors: Nguyen, Thanh Huy; Nguyen, Kim Anh; Nguyen, Phuong Thai (2011) - Functional tags represent the role of syntactic constituents such as noun phrases and verb phrases in a tree. Functional-tag labeling has been studied for languages such as English and Chinese. In this paper, we present a new system for tagging Vietnamese sentences functionally. We used maximum entropy model for this task with six tree-based features. Besides, a new feature based on word cluster has also been made use of. Our experiments on Vietnamese tree bank showed that the system achieved a good performance and the word cluster feature brought a significant improvement
