  • The New General Service List Test (NGSLT) is a receptive English vocabulary test of the New General Service List (NGSL). This paper describes the development of a Vietnamese-English bilingual version of the New General Service List Test. The bilingual version of the NGSLT has been developed to test receptive vocabulary knowledge while minimizing confounding factors such as the test-taker’s English grammar or reading comprehension skills. The paper also provides initial evidence of validation with 401 English-majored and nonmajored learners in a Vietnamese university that indicates the reliability of the new vocabulary assessment instrument for English learners in Vietnam.
